1.2 Introduction      
The aim of compiling the following company profile is to describe and define Forward Alloys &   Castings' activities and product line, the facilities, the managerial responsibilities, its relationship with other organisations and the future expansion plans.                        
1.3 Company Background  
Forward Alloys & Casting was founded in 1972 by a group of engineers, composed of highly dedicated and talented individuals with many years of experience in non-ferrous castings and engineering field.  The company has developed indigenously critical casting components, marine valves, centrifugally-cast rudder bushes and sub-assemblies as 'import substitute' for Aircraft Carriers, Submarines, Leander Class Frigates, Destroyers, coast Guards, Mine Sweepers and Warship Projects of Indian Navy.            
The principle tenet of Forward Alloys & Castings is to provide solutions to customers' problems by designing and developing special products.  This tenetis fulfilled through manufacturing of products superior in terms of workmanship, quality, reliability and price-performance ratio.                    
1.4 Present Situation    
Over the past 27 years, Forward Alloys & Castings have succeeded in bringing out excellent products.   It is recognised and well known in the non-ferrous castings and marine valves market in India.  Forward Alloys & Castings' products have been designed from the outset with the future in mind.The opportunity to work with Defense organizations in India for developing specialty 'Import Substitutes', meeting the rigorous 'MIL Specifications', has played a vital role in the development of API-6D Oil & Gas Pipeline Valves by the company.  Based on the technical know-how and expertise gained so far, forward Alloys & Castings was divided into two parts viz., Non-ferrous Castings,Foundry Division & Emflo ValvesDivision.                
Emflo Valves Division      
Emflo Valves Division has been successful in obtaining API License No. 6D-297 and authorization to use the official monogram of API on Ball Valves, Gate Valves, Swing Check Valves and Plug Valves.  Recently, the Ball Valves developed by the company were 'Fire-tested' as per API Spec. 6FA V Edition 1994, witnessed by surveryors of DNV (Dorst Norske Veritas), Belgium.  Fire test was carried out on metal seated Ball Valves, Trunnion Mounted as per API specification 6FA II Edition, 1994 and the same have been qualified from sizes 2" to 8", class 150 to 1500 and 6" to 12", 150 & 300 class.

The relevant certificates obtained from API and DNV are enclosed in the Annexure VII.

We are a group of people (about 50) with highest technical, engineering and managerial qualifications in relevant disciplines and can draw upon many years of experience in the non-ferrous castings & marine engineering field.
 1.6 Location / Facilities
Forward Alloys & Castings is located in an industrial area in Bhandup West, which is on the outskirts of the city of Mumbai and only 15 km away from the international airport of Bombay at Sahar.

Forward Alloys & Castings' facilities are based on proper infrastructure and a full-fledged Machine Shop.   The non-ferrous foundry is capable of producing castings of all types, shapes and sizes conforming to ASTM, SAE, BS, DIN, IS and other International Standards. Forward Alloys & Castings has over 30 years of experience in non-ferrous alloy castings such as : Phosphor Bronze, Manganese Bronze, Nickel Bronze, Brass, Naval Brass, Cupro-Nickel, High Conductivity Copper, cadmium Copper, Chromium Copper etc. and Aluminum & Zinc based alloys.  Various components are produced in Sand & Shell Mould Castings, Gravity Die Cast and Centrifugal castings and supplied in either un-machined or finished condition weighing from a few grams to 600 kg. per piece, according to customer's drawing, material specifications, samples etc.

The Machine Shop has all the necessary tools and precision instruments for complete testing of different components.  It is well supported by a computerized Drawing Office and Chemical Laboratory equipped with modern apparatus to carry out metal analysis.   A network of Personal Computers keeps a tab on various aspects of the enterprise, conforming to the requirements of ISO9001.

Forward Alloys & Castings Machine Shop is approved by various third-party inspection agencies viz., LLOYDS, UHDE, KVARNER, POWER GAS, CHEMTEX, DALAL, ICB, HUMPHREYS & GLASGOW et al.
          
2 Relationship with other Organization                
2.1 Overseas Representatives of Emflo Valves Division       
As a part of diversification, Forward Alloys & Castings have entered into manufacture of Ball Valves for Oil & Gas Pipelines.  The people involved in this activity are professionals with over 15 years of experience in various aspects viz., Design, Manufacture, Production and Marketing, having worked with leaders in the field.

In order to cater to the demands of the market in Gulf countries, Forward Alloys & Castings has joined hands with the following companies, who act as the Local Agents :

  • Negotiations are on with companies in Dubai and Bangla Desh.
